Orbi Node
Connect your device to Orbi
Orbi Node is a small application that runs on your own device. Once it is installed, an agent on the board can read and write files in the folders you allow, Orbi hears about it when a file you watch changes, and the coding agent works in your own repository. You decide what it is allowed to do.
macOS and Linux
Paste it into Terminal. One line; it works out which operating system you are on. Apple Silicon and Intel on macOS, x86_64 on Linux.
curl -fsSL https://get.orbiwork.space/install | shWhat it can do
Works in your folders
An agent on the board reads and writes files in the folders you allow. Any request that reaches outside them is refused.
Tells Orbi when something happens
When a file changes, a threshold is crossed or a time you set arrives, your device tells Orbi and a card or a flow starts.
Runs your coding agent
The card runs in the repository on your own device, with your own coding tool. That tool's AI cost is yours and does not come out of your Orbi credit.
Runs no free-form commands
It only does predefined jobs. A new job is not written to your device until you have read its full text and approved it.
Installing on a server
A device with no screen needs no window: only the command-line version is installed. A server differs from the device on your desk in one way that matters — it has to stay connected while you are not at it. Three steps:
- 1
Install it
Connect to the server with ssh and run this line. It never asks for an administrator password.
curl -fsSL https://get.orbiwork.space/install | sh -s -- --cli - 2
Tie it to your account
The first command shows a code on screen; you approve that code in Orbi from your browser. The next two open the server to a workspace and announce the first folder.
orbi-node login --url https://api.orbiwork.space - 3
Make it stay up
On a server you install the application as a service. A service starts on its own when the server boots and does not close when you close your connection.
Leaving a terminal open is not enough
If you connect to the server and start the application by hand, the connection closes when that window does and the device shows as offline in Orbi. The full service definition, ready to copy and paste, is in the Help Centre.
The full server recipeAfter you install it
- 1
The application shows a code. Approving that code in Orbi ties the device to your account.
- 2
You choose which workspace can see this device; every choice is a separate connection.
- 3
You add the folders that may be reached. A new connection starts empty and sees nothing on its own.
Worth knowing
- Installing never asks for an administrator password; the application lands in your own user folder.
- The application updates itself. You do not have to do anything when a new version ships.
- Orbi does not run free-form commands on this device. Only the capabilities you switch on run, and only in the folders you gave.
- Available on paid plans.
